Attachment therapy in Atlanta, GA

You try so hard to make your relationship work, but every day is difficult, uncomfortable, and tense. No matter what you do it seems like those you have relationships with just don't get you. You feel unheard, unincluded in decisions, and frustrated with how chaotic this relationship feels. Sometimes you dread the time you spend with the other person. It seems like even petty things set you off to the point you can’t talk about them. You wonder how long you can continue to push down your feelings. You try not to think about them but that only seems to make things worse. You feel so spent with nothing left to give and you can’t focus on what’s right there in front of you.

You are ready for a real change!

You have tried so many things at this point- meditation, going to the gym, you do the “self-care”-but nothing has changed. You need help with this relationship, but you feel such despair that anything will change. Those around you think you should get into therapy, but you have been to therapy before. Lots of therapy!  You need help but how do you find someone who can really understand you; someone who can really help you get to where you want to be in your relationships? You feel nervous about calling yet another therapist, but you need relief.

Hi! My name is Kristy, Attachment Therapist in Atlanta and I Can Help

For over 10 years, I have been helping individual clients who are frustrated with their relationships learn to trust again after painful relationships, find their voice, feel seen, loved, and valued by those around them. My clients find the safety they need to be vulnerable with their thoughts and feelings without the judgment or criticism they get from others. Together we talk about past moments that have come and gone, to bring relief to the present, and gain clarity. We are able to practice having hard conversations and explore other ways to handle situations while building the tools to respond differently. My clients typically come to see me weekly so they have consistent support and can move out of the gloom and doom of the relationships they are in.

I am a unique therapist. We will use a combination of therapy techniques uniquely modeled together to rewrite painful past stories into new healing stories. I have used these techniques for years and for many of my clients, I have seen them experience relief and make huge emotional shifts. Over time, my client's ability to identify their emotions and respond differently increases, and old hurts get resolved bringing more calmness and confidence into their lives. There won’t be worksheets, but there will be compassion, understanding, sometimes humor, validation, and self-exploration.

Frequently Asked Questions about Adult Attachment Therapy in Atlanta, GA

Who knew when you started googling “find a therapist near me” that you would find so many options and be left with SO many questions? I am here to help!

  • Sessions typically last between 45 and 50 minutes in length.

  • You will be in therapy for longer if you are not attending weekly therapy sessions! You will see improvements in your life faster and be able to maintain change longer!

From tracking outcomes, I know that clients who attend weekly sessions are getting better faster. Research has also found that weekly therapy sessions bring improvement faster. Doing healing work at the level that will sustain long-term change takes time. It’s a commitment. Clients who invest time get better faster and experience less relapse into old patterns. Faster results with less relapse mean you will spend less time and money on therapy overall.

  • There are a lot of factors that contribute to the length of therapy, so it is difficult to predict until we begin working together. If we decide we’re a good fit following that initial meeting, we’ll check in on progress every single week.

Typically, clients I work with start seeing changes after 6 weeks of weekly sessions. At the end of 12 weeks, we’ll evaluate if we’re reaching our goals. Often, the challenges that initiated their search for a therapist have been resolved after 12 weeks, if not sooner. All have been pleased with their progress and decided to continue making changes in their lives with new goals.

The decision to end our work together will be a collaborative decision based on what you feel needs to change in your life and the changes I see happening for you.

  • I have partnered with Mentaya to help you save money on therapy. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will handle everything with insurance to make sure you get your money back. They only charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. You can read more about how Mentaya works to help you reduce the cost of therapy here.

  • Online! No need to fight Atlanta traffic to get to a therapist’s office anymore. I am right here on your computer screen! As long as you are physically located in Georgia at the time of the session and in a place where you can have privacy, you get to make that “near me” location wherever is most convenient for you.

  • This has rarely happened, but if we do not see some improvement after a month of working together, we will change our approach to ensure we’re really targeting the things we need to target. If we’re still not seeing any improvement, we want to look at potentially referring you to another therapist who would be a better fit for you, a parenting coach, or an outside resource.

  • I know it can feel scary to call a therapist, and you might still have questions. I’ll make it easy. We’ll spend 15 minutes on the phone, and I’ll let you know how or if I can help. If I am not the right person, I’ll do my best to get you to the right person. Click here to contact me today.
