Someone you can really open up to about how you feel without the fear of criticism. You need an expert who can help you work through your emotions and into a better, calmer life.

Who knew when you started googling “Georgia therapist” that you would find so many therapists in Georgia? And yet, sometimes it can feel like they are all saying the same thing. How do you find someone who truly meets your needs and understands what YOU are all about?

Meet Your Georgia Therapist

Hi! My name is Kristy Brewer and I became a therapist because I wanted to help people who had been through hard situations overcome events in their past and to make their lives better. I love seeing people not just heal, but the impact their healing has on their families, friends, and communities when they are happier and healthier.

I’m an online therapist in Georgia who has been helping women get to the root of what is driving their current feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. I help clients understand how their trauma and past unhealthy relationships are influencing how they see things in their present life. I use methods to help give clients an emotionally corrective experience to change how they feel about those events in order to change how they feel today and empower them to respond differently in current situations. My clients are able to talk about things in sessions they can’t talk about with others to process through challenging moments. I have knowledge and training in several body-based therapies that provide a softer method for relieving the effects of trauma. This knowledge and training along with my support and validation, helps my clients find relief from old relationship wounds, decrease anxiety and depression, and feel more confident in their relationships. My clients are learning how to let go, feel less anxious, and overwhelmed, and grow into more confident women.

I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Studies. I am licensed in Georgia and have been treating anxiety and depression for nearly 15 years. I have specialized training and experience in working with trauma and attachment with an emphasis on the impact of childhood abuse and neglect and unhealthy and toxic family dynamics. I also provide trauma therapy for parents of children with Reactive Attachment Disorder.

I know it can feel like a big step to call a therapist, but I’ll make it easy. We’ll spend 15-minutes on the phone and I’ll let you know how or if I can help. If I am not the right person, I’ll do my best to get you to the right person.

Frequently Asked Questions about Therapy in Georgia

Who knew when you started googling “Georgia Therapist” or “Therapist in Georgia” that you would’ve found so many options and be left with SO many questions? I am here to help!

  • Sessions typically last between 45 and 50 minutes in length.

  • You will be in therapy for longer if you are not attending weekly therapy sessions! You will see improvements in your life faster and be able to maintain change longer!

From tracking outcomes, I know that clients who attend weekly sessions are getting better faster. Research has also found that weekly therapy sessions bring improvement faster. Doing healing work at the level that will sustain long-term change takes time. It’s a commitment. Clients who invest time get better faster and experience less relapse into old patterns. Faster results with less relapse mean you will spend less time and money on therapy overall.

  • There are a lot of factors that contribute to the length of therapy, so it is difficult to predict until we begin working together. If we decide we’re a good fit following that initial meeting, we’ll check in on progress every single week.

Typically, clients I work with start seeing changes after 6 weeks of weekly sessions. At the end of 12 weeks, we’ll evaluate if we’re reaching our goals. Often, the challenges that initiated their search for a therapist have been resolved after 12 weeks, if not sooner. All have been pleased with their progress and decided to continue making changes in their lives with new goals.

The decision to end our work together will be a collaborative decision based on what you feel needs to change in your life and the changes I see happening for you.

  • I have partnered with Mentaya to help you save money on therapy. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will handle everything with insurance to make sure you get your money back. They only charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. You can read more about how Mentaya works to help you reduce the cost of therapy here.

  • Online! No need to fight Atlanta traffic to get to a therapist’s office anymore. I am right here on your computer screen! As long as you are physically located in Georgia at the time of the session and in a place where you can have privacy, you get to make that “near me” location wherever is most convenient for you.

  • This has rarely happened, but if we do not see some improvement after a month of working together, we will change our approach to ensure we’re really targeting the things we need to target. If we’re still not seeing any improvement, we want to look at potentially referring you to another therapist who would be a better fit for you, a parenting coach, or an outside resource.

  • I know it can feel scary to call a therapist, and you might still have questions. I’ll make it easy. We’ll spend 15 minutes on the phone, and I’ll let you know how or if I can help. If I am not the right person, I’ll do my best to get you to the right person. Click here to contact me today.
